SECOND SKIN (SOFT SCULPTURE) SHOWCASE

Event Description

Venue

The AART3350 Soft Sculpture Showcase spotlights the outstanding work of third-year students from the Soft Sculpture course. Here, students have embarked on a transformative artistic journey, creating wearable artworks that delve into the profound themes of "second skin" and "protection." Their creations, born from a wellspring of creativity, demonstrate a remarkable blend of form and function.

What sets this collection apart is the commitment to sustainability, with many of the artworks incorporating second-hand materials, reflecting the students' dedication to environmentally conscious artistry. Join us in experiencing this unique fusion of art and sustainability, where every piece tells a compelling story of innovation and conscientious creation.

Chromatic Festival and The University of Newcastle acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands within our footprint areas: Awabakal Nation, Darkinjung Nation, Biripai Nation, Worimi Nation, Wonnarua Nation and Eora Nation. We also pay respect to the wisdom of our Elders past and present.

Chromatic Festival and The University of Newcastle recognise that First Nations sovereignty was never ceded. This continent always was and always will be Aboriginal Land.

We respect their cultural heritage, beliefs, and continuing relationship with the land, and recognise that they are the proud survivors of more than two hundred years of dispossession.
